How to Support Ukraine

The crisis in Ukraine is heartbreaking, and I wanted to share a few nonprofits that can provide aid and assistance to those families and individuals that are fleeing war. There are currently over 1 million refugees that have been forced to flee Ukraine. This number grows daily and these individuals and families are in desperate need of our donations and assistance. Learn more about some of the work these nonprofits are doing to help Ukrainians flee danger. 

The International Rescue Committee

However much you can contribute will help. Your gift will help provide food, medical care and emergency support services to refugee families in countries like Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, and Yemen. Their efforts range from health and safety services, to education, and to women's empowerment. The IRC is currently working hard to aid many individuals and families fleeing Ukraine - with special attention to the women that are close to giving birth amidst this attack. Outright Action International 

This amazing organization helps support LGBTIQ Ukrainians in need of assistance. Historically, LGBTIQ people who are already marginalized face higher risks and cannot count automatically on access to humanitarian and/or social assistance. This organization is profoundly important for individuals that have often been left behind in society's aide. One hundred percent of donations to OutRight’s Ukraine Fund go directly to local LGBTIQ partners in Ukraine and neighboring countries supporting the community during this crisis. Your contributions help provide emergency assistance to LGBTIQ people who need safe shelter, food, competent medical care, transportation for those who are fleeing, and other types of humanitarian support. The World Central Kitchen 

The WCK serves thousands of fresh meals to Ukrainian families fleeing home as well as those who remain in the country. The organizations mission is "Wherever there’s a fight so hungry people may eat, we will be there – we must be there." 
To this date, the WCK has provided 60 million meals to people in need across the globe - and is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. The WCK explains that "Food relief is not just a meal that keeps hunger away. It’s a plate of hope. It tells you in your darkest hour that someone, somewhere, cares about you." Razom for Ukraine

Razom’s Emergency Response is the SOS button that is pressed in times of need. Razom means “together” in Ukrainian and serves as a constant reminder of the community that it takes to create, build and do. This project was created to provide urgent help and support in face of an extreme and unforeseen situation in Ukraine. Razom is responding to this by providing critical medical supplies and amplifying the voices of Ukrainians.
